HEXIGRAM ILLUSTRATIONS
This series of small mono prints was inspired by readings from the I Ching book of changes. The images reflect the struggles that occur with change using the apple as a metaphor. The graphic linear quality of the fruit and seed illustrations grow into a human figure with the facial expressions of Marcel Marceau. The mime’s slight movements also mimic that of tai chi with an emphasizes balance. Each picture uses a square format that is divided midway by a horizon line separating earth from sky, much like the upper and lower trigrams used to determine a hexagram.
